CLINICS
PRACTICE NURSES
Our experienced and highly qualified
nurses see patients by appointment only. They offer a wide range of service including:
Family planning, cervical smears,
breast checks, well person checks, wound dressing, removal of stitches, travel
vaccinations, ear syringing and diabetic and asthma monitoring.
They also run a range of health promotion programmes
including:
Smoking cessation, blood pressure
and cholesterol monitoring and menopause clinics.
IN-HOUSE
SERVICES
The Community District Nurses
The district nurses attached to our practice are based at The South Westminster Centre, 82 Vincent Square. They can be contacted on (020) 8746 5764.
The Dietician
The community dietician works with
the team and advises them on nutritional matters. She also holds regular clinics
at the surgery when she sees patients who need specialised dietary advice, eg
those with diabetes or raised blood pressure, or other diseases needing dietary
assessment or advice.
The Community Psychiatric Nurse
- Tony White
The CPN provides long-term case management
for a defined case list of the surgery's mentally ill. He also provides easily
accessible assessment service to assist the GPs in their management of those with
mild to moderate mental health problems.These clinics are held by the doctors.
Mental Health Workers
We have access to a Clinical Psychologist and a Psychotherapist for those patients requiring talking therapy.
Health Visiting Service
Our health visitors give advice and information on health issues to families
with children under five years old. They do home visits and child health clinics.

MATERNITY
CARE
Most deliveries take place at
the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, but we are able to offer home delivery
if requested and appropriate. Antenatal care takes place at the surgery or at
the local community clinic, with close liaison between ourselves and the community
midwifery team. All the doctors are fully qualified to undertake ante and postnatal
care.
WOMEN'S
HEALTH
We provide a full range of services
for women, including cervical smear screening and breast screening. All the doctors
are qualified to provide the full range of family planning services including
caps and coils. We are pleased to offer advice on hormone replacement therapy
(HRT). Personal problems, including termination of pregnancy, can be discussed
in complete confidence. We also provide prenatal counselling for women planning
pregnancy.
Dr Munday is happy to discuss and fit the coil as a method of contraception.
MEN'S
HEALTH
We organise screening for common
problems such as heart disease risk and prostate cancer. We are able to offer
advice on new treatments for impotence and sexual dysfunction. All consultations
are strictly confidential.
A Few Tips For A Healthy Life:
- Don’t smoke and, if you do,
give up! We can help you.
- Eat a healthy, low-fat diet, with
five portions of fruit or vegetables daily.
- Drink alcohol in moderation: up
to 14 units a week for a female and 28 units a week for a male.
- Exercise regularly, at least three
times a week for 21 minutes.
MINOR
SURGERY
We offer an expanding service for
minor surgical procedures that includes: Cryosurgery (removal of skin lesions
with liquid nitrogen) - Dr Mitchell.
Injection and aspiration of joints
for rheumatic and traumatic complaints.
VACCINATIONS
We offer a complete vaccination service.
Typhoid, cholera, hepatitis, tetanus
and polio are free; a charge is made for yellow fever (we are a registered yellow
fever centre), meningitis, rabies, tick encephalitis and the oral typhoid vaccine.
Certificates are provided and we guarantee to be cheaper than BA, Thomas Cook
or Trailfinders!
Private
Care
Almost all patients at this practice
are NHS patients and the services we provide are therefore free. However, the
items listed below are not covered by the NHS and a charge for these
services will be made.
