The doctors are on call on a rota
basis, but a visit may be made by a fully qualified doctor from the KCW deputising
service. This service is intended to cover genuine emergencies which require
urgent medical attention and cannot wait until the surgery re-opens. Demand
for this service has been rising dramatically, mainly for coughs and colds; please
do not abuse it.
WALK-IN CLINICS
In order to reduce the difficulty that our patients sometimes have in getting an appointment at short notice, we have introduced a walk-in clinic each morning. They start at 9.00am and everyone who arrives by 11.30am will be seen by a doctor.
everyone who arrives by 11.30am will be seen by a doctor.
To access the Walk-In clinic, you can either arrive at the surgery door, which will be opened at 8.45am, and wait to see a doctor, or alternatively ring the surgery from 8am and have your name put into an appointment slot for later in the morning. Please remember that the Walk-In clinic is for relatively simple or acute problems, and that time is limited. We do our very best to avoid delay, but of course these clinics can be very popular!
So that the walk-in clinics run smoothly and we may offer an efficient service, we ask that you help us by considering those in the queue behind you and keeping your consultation as brief as possible.
If you feel that your problem will need more time, or if there are several things you wish to mention to the doctor, please make a proper appointment in the usual way. Appointments for a doctor or a nurse can be booked up to a month in advance. If the doctor feels he needs more time to discuss your problem, he may ask you to book a routine appointment at reception.
